Makeup Starts with The Skin

We all know it, makeup starts with a great base – you want it to look as flawless as possible, right? Today, we asked bloggers what their tips were to create that perfect base to apply makeup. Be sure to share your tips as well!

“I moisturize the skin before applying any make-up, then I make sure that my foundation (or BB cream) matches my skin tone: especially during summer, with a little bit of a tan, it’s easy to screw up your base because you don’t have the right color. That’s why I keep a dark shade of any foundation in my beauty case, so I can mix it with my regular color to match my skin complexion. I also pay lots of attention to the contouring: highlighting the right spots can really change the way you look!” Arianna from

“To create a nice base for makeup on my combination, acne-prone skin, skincare is important. I have to cleanse my face, use witch hazel (very balancing) as a toner, and follow with a good, non-greasy moisturizer. After letting that settle, a primer is extremely important before using foundation on my face! My favourites are Benefit’s Porefessional and Maybelline’s Baby Skin. These help with oil control and help my makeup last longer!” – Debbie from CosmeticsCounsel
