Salicylic Acid Peel Side Effects

posted in: Peels

Salicylic acid peels are generally on the mild side of the peel spectrum – affecting the upper layers of skin – and consequently side effects are usually mild.

Usually skin will burn or tingle during and immediately following the application of a peel. Using a fan to blow cool air onto your face during the application, as well as rinsing with plenty of cool water help to decrease the burning sensation.

Our Salicylic Acid 2% Peel is especially formulated to work over time – so you can use it daily after cleansing – but without the more painful burning, redness, and visible peeling that a stronger solution can cause.

Another side effect is that a Salicylic acid peel can make your skin more prone to sunburn, so make sure to wear sunscreen for at least a week following a peel.

Note: Salicylic acid should never be used if you’re pregnant or nursing.
